Failing CD, Floppy and Zip
Disk Recovery Freeware
Freeware for CD and Floppy disk repair might be sufficient. Please read the descriptions as they each have some specificity I would try it first unless you don't have the time. IsoBuster is a good Commercial solution for damaged CD's. It's part freeware.

web/patchit.zip - "Have you lost a file because of a corrupt floppy? PatchIt is here to rescue your corrupt file! You don't need to copy the whole file once again. PatchIt allows you to selectively copy only the corrupt portions of the file damaged during transmission due to bad media." Why not just recopy the file if it is only the size of a floppy or smaller? I don't get it, but here it is for what its worth.

Comment - Please see the freeware versus shareware explanation. After installation the program will ask for a serial number but you can click on the "Free funct. only" Button. Here is a quote from the freeware explanation section: "..Finding data, extracting (copying) data etc. is free.." So apparently the dat recovery features are free.
